Resume Normal Programming

I am really hoping to get back in full swing with my blog-I think I just needed a break.  Life got hectic and blogging seemed more like an obligation than a pleasure with everything else I was trying to do-When I started my blog it was sort of a challenge to myself to see if I could even keep up with it since I was notorious for buying journals and never writing anything in them-So I feel good in the fact that it has been a couple of years since I started my blog and although there have been some long breaks I have continued to come back.  I think after the holidays I will give it a facelift too.  I actually needed to look back at an old post to see a photo for a reference and it kind of feels like catching up with an old friend so if you have come by for a visit and I have been MIA I am sorry- but know that I appreciate you stopping by:o) 

 

No Time For Tea

Today is the talented Vanessa Valencia's Mad Tea Party   day!  I am excited to see what wonderfully magical creations she has come up with to delight us this year-Last year I was a participant you can see my post here but I am sad this year time did not allow.   I certainly plan on trying to visit all the blogs hosting parties with Vanessa if you have never been it is a must see of creativity-just follow the links on the side of Vanessa's blog-Happy Partying!  I am off to work-we are doing inventory tomorrow and there is lots to do:oP

I'm Back

I took an unplanned sabbatical from my blog.  I am so sorry to have been away for so long but life just got a bit crazy- not that it isn't still but I somehow found my self missing my little corner of cyberworld and decided it was time to update.  I am busier than ever-I am helping design and coordinate a friend's fall wedding and that is in addition to my day job:o)   Planning a wedding is certainly a  creative outlet though and I am enjoying the process!-I don't have nearly as much time to play around with my doll photography but I am trying to post at least once a week on Flickr.  This is one of my more recent photos-She just makes me smile! and I really really hope to get some painting done soon-I am in Suzi Blu's  Piety and Passion class but I haven't had the opportunity to really participate yet and I am sorely missing the painting process.   I haven't done much blog surfing lately either however tonight I visited one of my favorites

noodle and lou studio and I noticed that one of the blinkies on her sidebar had one of my handwritten fonts in it and that made me happy-and I think in some way that little joy lead me here again!  So thanks Jenn:o)

Hello It's Me

It's pretty sad that I briefly forgot my sign in for typepad-could it possibly be because I have not updated in a long while.  I am still here:)  December was pretty much a blur-working retail at the holidays can do that and I had one really long stretch where I worked nine days in a row.  Still, the holidays were fun and it is always nice to have everyone home again and in keeping with tradition I decorated our table on Christmas Eve after everyone was fast asleep.  This year's theme was Candyland.  It was a fun one to create and I think the family enjoyed it.

After Christmas I had some time off to recoup-which is just what I did.  I managed to work in my studio a bit and although I still have some organizing to do it is 100% better than it was-I need to do a bit of purging which is next on the list.

Soon after the New Year began I headed to Atlanta to the gift show-It was a very busy show which is a good sign that the economy is heading in the right direction!  It's hard to believe we were already looking at merchandise for the next Christmas season.

The rest of January I spent working and taking care of my hubby who has had some pretty severe back issues and has been unable to do much-I will never take the simple act of being able to walk for granted- EVER! 

Tomorrow he will be having back surgery which I hope will relieve most of the pain he has been living with over the past month!

As always, if I am not doing at least something creative I find myself feeling frustrated-so my latest creative outlet has been photographing Blythe-I began collecting them a couple of years ago after first seeing pictures of them on Etsy.  I am totally smitten with them now and have lots of ideas that I want to complete.  Here are a couple of recent pics

Monumental Month

Sorry for the lack of posts recently-November was a monumental month for me-First-I found out I was published in the current issue of  Artful Blogging!

It is just one photo but I was super excited-I ❤ Stampington publications!

 

Then, we made a trip to Ohio to help celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday.  She is amazing-still driving and everything.  We had a blast and it was Slaten's first trip on a big airplane so that was fun to witness!  It was really nice to get away even if it was just for a weekend.  

Next came our holiday open house at work-always fun but exhausting.

Then of course was Thanksgiving which was low key but very nice and I was thankful to have most of the family here.

Two days after Thanksgiving was a milestone birthday for me-Some of my girlfriends and my daughters surprised me with a  luncheon-and boy was I ever surprised-I had NO CLUE-it was perfect!  

Saturday evening was spent at Jacki and Andy's watching the Uf- Florida State football game.

On Sunday we went to the gospel brunch at the House of Blues for a family celebration of my birthday-It was a long weekend of celebrations-I think it may have been the best birthday ever!!!

It doesn't stop there-2 days after my birthday was my girlfriend's surprise birthday party that I helped plan- She was totally shocked which was awesome!

So there you have it-my monumental month.  And now I am in hyper holiday mode-I have so much to do and so little time!  This is what I want to do...

So better run for now-had a flat tire yesterday that needs to get fixed so I can get some holiday shopping done! 

 

Belated Boo!

I'm still here:)  just a little late in getting here again.  I realized I did not put a date for my blog giveaway for the Halloween Party-my intent was to do the drawing on Halloween but I got back a little late from the party I went to so I decided to do it this morning instead.

The little cutie in the picture was a wee one at Slaten's 3rd birthday party last weekend-more pictures of that later:)

I didn't know that Random.org was now a paid service for the type of drawing I needed so I did it the old fashioned way.  

Printed off the numbers cut them out and put them in a bucket...

Busy Busy Busy

I know I sound like a broken record-but here it is another month and I am just updating my "Sticks" calendar on the 6th.  I seriously do not know where the time goes-of course working full time does take a big chunk of my time.  I always feel like I am playing catch-up.  I need to have a week off to really organize my studio but that is just not going to happen any time soon.  So here is where I pose the question-To Facebook or not to Facebook-that is the question.  I have had several friends requesting that I join but I just feel like I don't update my blog as much as I would like so why do I need yet another computer site to drain even more time that I don't have.  I have been on twitter for awhile now and I love it because it us short and sweet.  So I asked one of my friends who is encouraging me to join Facebook am I really missing out somehow by now being on there.  She insists that I am:).  Oh well, something to ponder for sure.  But for now I am happy to just be updating my blog and sharing a couple pictures I took this weekend.

 

Frankenstein's Bride

I have been busy finishing up my ornaments for Pegsters vintage Halloween Ornament Swap-and although I am not a huge scary movie fan-I couldn't resist using the cool vintage photo I found on google of Frankenstein and his bride:D... So I put together a little "film" showing some of the steps in the process of  my little creation-I started with little bridal favor bags and gave them a bath in coffee to give them a vintage look-and while letting them dry in the sun I printed the picture I found on organza and cut them out.  Next, I fashioned "arms" out of vintage gold pipe cleaners wrapped in cheesecloth-I cut tiny slits in the sleeves which were already sewn together so I could fish the arms through-then I attached tiny vintage pins with a little moon bead on the top of the dress for something to hang them with-I wrote 'The Bride" on the top each dress in a glow- in- the- dark pen-letting it bleed on the fabric a bit to give it a more distressed appearance.  The organza picture of Frankie and his bride I fastened on with rust colored staples-and because the little dresses had a pouch in the back I included a small bag of fall potpourri which kind of gives it a vintage smell too-I am not a huge potpourri fan but I picked up the coolest little pumpkin potpourri in Savannah when I was there.  I didn't have alot of it so I combined it with another one to complete the project-and there you have it mini Bride of Frankenstein ornaments-they are now on the way to Peggy!
